Dummy Relay FS58 Housing

The FS58 dummy relay housing (Drawing: 866 - 06) is a component engineered to occupy the slot of a

standard FS58 relay within signaling racks, serving as a bypass module or space reserve.
In signaling cabins, the metal frames (racks) feature pre-arranged slots where relays are installed by push-in coupling.

If a logic circuit temporarily does not use a specific position, or if a relay is removed for maintenance, the slot on the

frame remains empty, leaving the rear electrical terminals exposed to 50V or 150V.

It is inserted into the empty slot for two reasons:

o    Insulation: It protects personnel from accidental contact with the live electrical terminals of the rack.

o    Cleanliness: It prevents dust and moisture from settling on the female connectors of the frame,

which would otherwise oxidize, compromising future installations.
